Is a PDF invoice still valid in Belgium in 2026?

No. Since 1 January 2026, invoices between VAT-registered Belgian businesses must be structured e-invoices sent over Peppol. A PDF by email is no longer a valid invoice for B2B transactions.

UBL (Universal Business Language) is an XML format for business documents. Peppol uses UBL 2.1 following the Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 rules, so any Peppol-connected accounting tool can read it.

What is my Peppol ID?

In Belgium it is usually your enterprise number with scheme 0208 (e.g. 0208:0123456789). In France it is often your SIREN or SIRET (0002 or 0009), in the Netherlands your KvK number (0106).
